Sharifat Institute of Professional and Islamic Legal Studies was established as an academic and professional centre dedicated to the development of competent, ethically grounded and globally relevant professionals. The Institute provides opportunities for intellectual, professional and practical advancement across diverse fields of study, with a distinctive commitment to the integration of contemporary knowledge, professional competence and sound moral values.
Brief History
Sharifat Institute of Professional and Islamic Legal Studies evolved from the desire to expand access to quality tertiary and professional education and to respond to the changing educational, technological, legal, economic and developmental needs of society.
Originally established as Sharifat College of Education and Islamic Legal Studies, the institution has undergone strategic restructuring and expansion in line with its broader academic aspirations. Now operating as an Institute of Professional and Islamic Legal Studies, it is developing as a multidisciplinary centre for the training of skilled professionals and intellectually equipped graduates.
The Institute currently offers National Diploma programmes in Law, Common and Islamic Law, and Computer Science, while approvals have been secured for additional programmes in Banking and Finance, Library and Information Science, and Business Administration and Management. Plans are also ongoing towards the introduction of programmes in Science Laboratory Technology and other relevant areas of professional and technical education.
Guided by the relevant laws, regulations and standards governing tertiary and professional education, the Institute continues to pursue academic growth, institutional excellence, innovation, moral discipline and meaningful contributions to national and global development.
